When I think Isaac, I always see the full engineering suit in my head. That was definitely the most iconic thing about him looks wise (kind of like Master Chief). That all said, I'm glad you brought up the suit. I got so into the series and world that I watched every animated movie, played extraction/ignition, and read all the comics/one of the 2 novels. Even when he won/survived, he lost (being tortured and experimented on in between games for example, or surviving and winning all three games just to be eaten by a moon as humanity is wiped out at the end of the DLC for 3). I also liked the whole down-on-his-luck victim thing he had going throughout the entire series.

Watching him nearly lose his mind and be pushed to the limit repeatedly only to always come out on top made me feel like we got to know him pretty well. I also hated 3 since it shit all over the horror aspect of the series, but I enjoyed watching his relationship with Carver/Ellie progress, not to mention his interactions with various unitologists. Generic buzzed white guy, sure, but I still got attached to the character looks and all either way so it didn't matter to me (kind of like Cole in Infamous I remember people raging when they gave him hair in the original Infamous 2 trailer so the devs put back the buzz cut).
